What state and what area do you hunt?
In Texas, the gun season opened the first weekend of November!

i live in ohio and here gun season doesnt start till the monday after deer season we are allowed to bow hunt starting about the first week of oct. when i say gun i mean shotgun pistol and muzzleloader high powered rifles are taboo for deer around here unfortunatley. i 'll be hunting in perry county which is slightly southeast of columbus. rolling foot hill with thick patches of woods with cornfeild mixed in . i am hoping for a productive year

Wish you the best on your hunting adventures! Should be some large deer in an area like that. Do you stand hunt or still hunt? I let a good size buck walk on me Friday morning. Just could not tell the size of the rack.....big body, length about 4-6" past the ears, wider then the ears, but no chance to see the beams.
In the past, he would have been DRT, but I changed and got a little more picky!!

thanks i need all the luck i can get. i normally hunt from a blind or if it gets late in the week my friends and i will probably get together for drive and try to force the deer into moving. i have always heard ohio has good habitat for deer. i read in the local paper here that pope and young put a top ten list of the best trophy states in the country(for whitetail deer),and that texas and ohio both made that list. iwould love to go to texas and hunt but my pcoket will never allow it.

Hunting TX is expensive if you go for one of the big ranch, big deer hunts....you know food, lodgeing and the like.
But you can make a cheaper hunt.....by hunting the public lands, like state and national forest and camping out or finding a cheap hotel. Probably the biggest expense would be the out of state license.......app. $300.

Who has those deer pinned up like that? Sad. There is a big hunting club down here that has 3000 acres fenced in. They funnel the deer to stands and charge up to $5000 per Buck. Rich Yankees pay to come down here and shoot a trophy buck......but it is like shooting fish in a barrel! Pityful. Surprise...the owner is originally from PA!

Indiana's firearm season is over for now. Took two with a scoped mossy 500 and slug. One was a ten pointer. Went to the ouside of ears and up about 8 inches. This weekend muzzleloader starts and goes for 9 days. Have to work every weekend day now but I can take a couple vacation days and go hunting then come back and go to work from 7:00 pm till 11:00 pm overtime.
