My wife keeps using the MREs...She has a taste for the vegetarian manicotti and supplies are getting low...
1, anyone know if it is possible to purchase just this entree on its own? will get her a supply so she leaves the SHTF supply alone.
2, anyone know the recipe they use for this entree..Maybe if we whip up a batch I can slow her down...
If the SHTF what will be left for her to eat? Personally I will have plenty of the ones she does not eat...Oh well, I will miss her:biggrin:
Cheers

www.beprepared.com sells a lot of the entrees and other components.
I like the spiced apples and the veggie burger in barbecue sauce myself.Get on their mailing list-they run specials all the time. The manicotti are good too.I wish they still had the older stuff-I miss the ham slice and omelet.

Damn, man. MRE are friggin' expensive. You might as well take her out to eat for some fresh mani. Better yet, make her fall in love with you all over again and get your butt into the kitchen. There ain't nobody in Central OK who makes a better lasagna than me!

Gimme $25 worth of beef ANY day.

COME ON ! $20 - $25 for a pan full,
I hear ya. For just me & wifey, a lot gets wasted if we don`t freeze some of it. I love lasagne, but can`t live off it, LOL. Nuked lasagne is pretty good too.
MRE`s? I tried to get my wife to eat one back about 91 or so, during the days of the old dark brown packaged ones. She couldn`t stand it(don`t remember what it was, but the menus were very limited then).
I haven`t had an MRE since `93. How are the new ones? Best places to purchase? Prices? I`ve been thinking of getting a couple of cases to put in the basement just in case.

I try to be humble. If I told the whole truth the world would never let me sleep.
What are you adding to your lasagna for it to cost $20 a pan? The most expensive thing I have in my pan is the $5 worth of ground chuck. Everything but the meat, noodles and the ricotta comes from the garden.

Heck I took a wag at it. Seems like it cost me that much last time I did it. Provolone, Ricotta, Mozzarella, fresh : oregano, spinach, tomatoes, garlic, then the lasagne noodles, yeh about $8 in ground sirloin ( I HATE buying grease and water)
I've yet to get a piece of ground here ready for gardening. Dang hard pan clay. Couldn' raise a fight on it with a gallon of whiskey !

In the seventies some of my fellow "Lifers" had Asian wives, this was a good thing as regards sideways cracky, but tough situation for my fisherman buddy Msgt WTF K.B.
Seems he'd stock up on frozen bait squid, and when he'd go to get it from the deep freeze for an afternoon of fishing, well the freezer was empty of bait, as wife had eaten the Bait Squid for lunch.
Otherwise a magnificent woman.

My kids eat the chili-mac and the wife gets peeved because she likes to take the chili-mac on mission trips to Uganda...... she's not partial to the native goat dontchaknow.
Maybe I could trade ya some manicotti for some chili macaroni?

Anybody got a list of the meals/menus of the different cases of MRE's. I know there is an "a" and a "b" case and the meal selections run like 1-12 and 13-24, but I don't have a list of them.
Also are there any other case lots besides "a" and "b".
BTW, I am talking about late dated MRE's, in the brown packs, not the clear packed ones w/o the heaters and etc.

Sopakco (sp?) just has the A and B. I don't have the list, especiallly since mine got all picked over and rearranged. You can find the lists on the 'net. Chili-mac is in the A box ;)

You'd better chase her outta that pantry- MRE's have ways of making lardasses out of casual diners....
That and the SODIUM. Oh and let's not forget the whole "regularity" issue.

Guys,
How can you eat MREs in a non emergency? I hated every one I ate in the service. Just eating chicken pot pie this week reminded me of eating a 35 degree temp similar tasting MRE and I almost Gagged.
I guess its just me. I lived mostly on pot tarts tuna and little hot dogs in the field and was better off it think.
I hear they are better now. Ijust cant bring myself to try one.

MRE is an oxymoron. They are not Meals, they are not Ready, nor are they Edible. :) Give me C-rats any day, especially liked the Ham and Eggs, yum........
