Hey guys !

While digging through my stuff recently I found a Blackjack knife , a
" Marauder " Mk1. The knife itself is still in 100% ( great ) condition, the leather sheath is in 98% good condition.

Do we have any knife collectors on here that could tell me when this knife was made and how it will hold up against more modern ones, such as a Cold Steel or others ?

Btw, the blade is shaped like a Kukri , has never been used and never been re - sharpened. The grips are made of Kraton ( rubber ) , I believe.

My research showed that it has been out of production for a while , or the company has gone out of business or something.

Any information will be appreciated.

Thanks,

:fal:

Pete,

Might want to check out here: ://www.knifeforums.com/forums/fusionbb.php?

They have a Blackjack knife specific forum

Might be interested in it if you decide to sell

Hey Ron !

Thanks for the interest, but I'm not planning on selling it. I've had a number of good offers up to about twice the original sales price, and I still didn't part with it.

I might be interested in buying its companion, the Marauder Mk2 , if I could find one in good condition ( and with black grip and sheath ), if I could get it at a decent price.

Blackjack Knife has an interesting history. Right now, I believe the production is in West Virginia.

Your knife was probably made in Japan or Effingham, Il. At one time, blackjack had a good production facility in Effingham before the company owner, Mr. Stewart, left abruptly.

There was also some california production if I remember correctly. I couldn't tell you what models were made there.

The Marauder is an early BJK that was made in Japan. It is an excellent quality knife and a heck of a user. The value drops without the box, but you should have an easy $150 find.

Blackjack is long gone. The current knives are excellent, but lack much of the style of the Effingham BJK knives.

Have a Blackmoore 2000 made in St. Louis MO nice knife but a little wide in the handle IMO. Kydex sheath is a bit crude but has a nice feature... attached to the strap that secures the knife in the sheath is a pin that passes through the handle to prevent the knife from slipping out of the sheath when carried inverted on your lbe and/or jump harness. "Jump Certified" I believe the accompamying literature stated.
