Johnny,
You can link pictures to the Files, that's how I always do it. Just set up a photobucket.com account and put them there. Linking is very easy. HTH.

OH, also BUMP this needed a bump today!! If I wasn't saving all my pennies for Knob Creek, I'd bid also. Oh well!!

Guys, sorry to take so long, had a birthday party. The big Question is how do you read the posting times? either im on crack or missing something. The auction ended 7:00 PM eastern time but my computer clock and posting times dont seem to jive, please let me know so i can tell who won, thanks

johnny
October 02, 2005, 20:08
it looks like charlie posted at 6:59 but i just posted at 8:49 and the postin time says 20:05 what gives?

By my clock, the server's clock is running 16 minutes fast. The final bid came in a 18:56 Eastern time, That's 6:56pm for you non 24hour clock types.

Johnny - Check your time settings, specifically what time zone you have set as this is likely off. Also realize the server clock is slightly off as mentioned above.

Jen, thanks for the info, looks like .308 for life gets it. Charlie, thanks for bidding and ill try to dig up some more stuff, sorry for the confusion. PM sent to .308 for life.

And now the servers time is fixed.

This post was made AFTER the post I made explaining the time situation with the server. I went back in time.. well actually I just fixed the servers time.

Jen

Charlie - The server clock is OFF by 16 minutes, this means that while the timestamp matches the time on the server, it was 16 minutes fast.. the bid that came in after yours was in fact before the official cut off time based on standard time, not the incorrect server time.

Jen

OK guys, we obviously have an issue here.. The server time was off by 16 minutes, so 7pm eastern was actually showing as 7:16pm on the server (by eastern time). Do we go by server time or actual clock (standardly accepted) time?

I will post a formal ruling for all future auctions in the forum rules concerning time discrepancies.

Maybe to solve the problem,, we should do like Gunbrokers....have a 15 min rule....bidding continues till there is at least a 15 min gap in the bidding....
then it ends......

Here's a possible solution: re-run the auction for one day, time on the board to be the deciding time limit, with a gunbroker style 15 minute rule to avoid all the 'snipers' (any sniping round here & I'll be breaking out the L42A1, then WATCH OUT!! ) & that will be the rule for the foreseeable future.

Anyone got a problem with that??

Seems to me that folks is gettting upset over something that could be settled fairly easily. Hey, I was well upset a couple weeks ago when I forgot about the item I wanted on GB & some bugger beat me by a couple bucks so I know where yer coming from Charlie.....

Let's not have any unpleasantness & agree to do the right thing, I think that's what seperates the MEN from the boys, as does .308, no?

One final thing: seems like johnny was having quite a time stirring up interest in this item until just recently. If those concerned were really keen to bid, why wasn't there a frantic rush of bidding for the days preceeding the end of the auction? Just asking....

This would be a fair solution now and a good rule for the future.

HOLY CRAP!!!!!! I go to work for a few minutes and look what happens. charlie, sent you another PM, i dont care how jen wants to run this, Im fine with whatever, but like I said my computer clock (set by being connected to the internet) was over 45 min off from my posting times. Jen explained what was going on to me in the open forum and since its her board AND she has nothing to gain by helping me I thought her explaination to be fair. In my first PM to you I mentioned all the new IMBELS to hit the market and thought mabye you would like to see if you could get one for cheaper than mine ( I figured that was why I was having so much trouble getting the auction going). When I get home from work your all pissed off at me about the whole thing so like I said in the PM, if you want a kit for your bid of $230 ill find you one. 308 for life has already paid for the kit or you could have this one. let me know what you want to do but at the end of the day I do this for fun and I wont cheat anybody, especially for a damn hobby, so take a chill pill and tell me what you want me to do

Sorry Charlie(no pun intended)
We were both bidding on the item for a few days.I went by the clock on my wall(the real time)I never even noticed there was a time difference on the FILES.I PayPaled for the item as soon as i won it.
Seriously,it's just a kit.If you want it that bad,you can buy it off me for the same price. There is no need to sweat this.ITS NOT LIKE ITS AN AUSSIE HB.

OK charlie, just saw my nice negative review-scred me over $5- I can only assume you meant to say screwed instead of scred and if that is how you handle your business and you really think I went through all this trouble over $5 our dealings are done, shit, it hasnt even been ONE DAY!!! sorry I had to work!!!! good luck with you kit and please do not contact me again, we are done.

If you haven't done a deal, it is not your place to give feedback! It's for buyers and sellers only, not whiners and bitchers....the deals done - get over it!
