A good water filter and a good .22lr, a belt gun like the one you mentioned, or in .357 revolver-different loads.

Above all Water and .22lr.

here is a good checklist to start by then just add stuff to it or remove things depending on your personal needs and environment

Hey rt!

Where you gonna bug out to?

We're too old and busted-up to be "buggin' out" somewhere.

If I bug out, its gonna be about as far as traffic and a tank of gas will get me. Then its gonna have to be the Motel 6 until I max-out my credit card. After that I'm just a po' refugee by the highway. I aint gonna go trespassin' in some strange woods in all kinds of weather, and get eaten by zombies in the night.

I think you better just get a bunch of Dinty Moore beef stew, a water filter, some buckets with tight-fitting lids, and a lot of TP.

Probably couldn't hurt to have a double supply of your favorite "medications."

I know you are in Florida. So, hurricanes might be some real concern. If you really gotta evacuate, take a medium-size backpack, portable water filter, your meds, a couple changes of clothes, some plastic bags, maybe a few MRE's and cash. Take a small pistol you can hide if you think you might run into zombies. I think you are gonna severely limit your options if you are toting a rifle during an evacuation to shelter.

For those folks who are in areas so remote that they could actually run into the woods, the don't need to be runnin' from nuthin' anyway.

What you runnin' for! I aint scairt!

Bug IN!

bob's are not only for leaving home , they can be for getting you back home if your car dies.
bobs need to be set up for the part of the world you live in..
while gunplumber would need to carry water in his car, i only need a water filter cause we got water every where around here.
if im leaving my AO ,i need to modify my gear.
you need to change out summer gear for winter gear at the right times.
make sure you test every peice of gear before it goes in your bob , if you dont
test it ,it dont work ..
we had a bob campout last winter , bobs and tarps only ... it snowed
some guys swore as soon as they got home , they were ditching leather boots
for gortex boots ..
dont ever put your gear away dirty.. it will still be dirty when you need it..
if its broke fix it now , if you used something replace it now .
i have a whole box of stuff i have bought and found out it was crap while i was testing it , better now then later .

i dont plan on leaving my house for anything but big hurricanes (class 3 and up )
but if i need to retreat from my house and wait till the time is right to return ,i want to have my gear ready..

look at what is in search and rescue 96 hour packs , those guys are ready to walk out the door with just there packs...

i keep off the shelf supermarket deyhdrated food for 4 days in my pack , all the time and i know i can stretch that if i have to .. (all food we eat regularly ,i had some ice tea mix i was going to add to the pack, when i tried it ,it gave me the runs , better to know that at the house )

a way to heat water without a lot of wood smoke could be a life saver some day .

+1 on that Capt Dremel.

I have a GMHB (get me home bag).

Change of clothes, ADC map, TP, poncho and liner, button compass, cheap multi-tool, glow sticks, and some bottles of water etc. I posted thread on it a while ago. Maybe I'll try to dig it up.

Homies coming home where the good stuff is and I have some control of my surroundings.

Well cant search back more then a year so I guess thats a bust. Maybe I'll start a new thread later.

Ive found from traveling using a carry-on that is one of those travel back-packs that if your going to be lugging around stuff a back-pack is the way to do it. Even on the short walks in an airport having stuff on your back is so much better freeing up your hands and handling the weight.

Id dare say all BOBs or GMHBs should be of the backpack variety. Its nice to have the body bag size duffel bag to cram a months worth of provisions in but I think that you should operate with the destinct possibility, maybe even inevitablility, that you'll be foot bourne for a period of time at some point during a crisis.

Attention people who wear dress shoes for work. Have a change of boots/sneakers/socks as part of the kit.
