Where can you get those hand crank/solar radios that were popular around Y2K? It's good to have a radio, just in case.

There are a lot of them out there, but the one I bought after a lot of looking was the CCRANE Summit. It has a very sturdy handcrank, a solar panel and ac adapter. It gets AM/FM and shortwave. Look them up at www.ccrane.com or call them for a catelogue a (800) 522-8863 They have larger models, but I wanted one that I could take with me in a pack .

I picked up a Grundig Model FR-200 at Radio Shack for about 40.00 about 6 months ago. Uses either dynamo (handcrank), AA batteries or an ac converter. FM, Am , SW1 and SW2 as well as a built in light. Take it camping and seems very rugged and reliable. Reception is incredible.

SW1 and SW2 reception is excellent, like BBC world for a different point of view, but the religious stuff on some frequencies kind of freaks me out.
