I would like to say "WELL DONE" to Jen and all, I am truly pleased that the Files has gotten with the program. The Tweeter and I have been into preperation since 9/11 brought us to the realization that We were going to be the Ones that will take care of Us!

I have been spending the majority of my time on other sites getting up to speed but now that my 1st family has seen the light I'll be around here much more.

I would like to encourage everyone to visit Jim Rawles new site at Survivalblog (http://www.survivalblog.com/) There is no forum there for chatting, we can do that here, however lots and lots of good information.

If anyone else has links that will help the members get up to speed I would encourage you to post them here.

And.....while you are at it...pick up his book "Patriots" It is a very good , if a bit dark, TEOTWAWKI tale, but an incredibley informative instructional book on preparedness. (He is a serious FAL fan by the way) The absolute cheapest place you can pick this book up is at www.fredsm14stocks.com The real deal is getting, Patriots, Boston's Gun Bible, and Molon Labe for cheaper than one of the books anywhere else. Think ahead, be calm, ACT!

Very interesting website with many articles on a wide variety of diaster preparedness/survival topics, many many practical how-to type articles written by members sharing planning and preparations they have made themselves.

EDITED 11/28/2007 TO ADD:

This is a website where you can do some window-shopping for canning equipment and supplies. I can't comment on their prices because I'm not in the market.

This is a daily blog from James Wesley, Rawles author of "Patriots." Pretty good, and he writes back if you email him.
Survival Blog (http://www.survivalblog.com)

A more complete link for the excellent novel "Lights Out" is http://www.giltweasel.com/stuff/LightsOut-Current.pdf
It includes all chapters as well as a prologue, epilogue, and contact info for David Crawford, the author.

He also wrote the chilling short story "The Bug Out." http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?t=172494 Link leads to the High Road forum, story is posted in several long segments.

I came across this web site with all sorts of plans for FARM/COUNTRY/HOMESTEADING type structures with links to other similar sites as well.

People are always asking for advice on how to build something or other and there is a collection of all kinds of structures here even plans for building gates and such. I thought it would be a good addition to this sticky:
