Question for the S.U.I.T. gurus. Trilux's are getting cheaper now but the current lot is cammed for 5.56 cal. from Israel. Can this Izzy S.U.I.T. be converted to 7.62 ballistics by changing out the cam or is there more to it? I have one but haven't sighted it in yet but I'm sure it's going to be way off at some point on my FAL. If they can simply be re-cammed I would need to find a source of these cams. Again, 5.56 cams are all over the place but I don't see any 7.62. I did scan the files but found nothing addressing this specific problem. Thanks a ho bunch.

Yep, just swap out the cam. Tapco used to have 'em but I don't know the current situation. Give 'em a call.

I seem to remember the cams weren't so awful much different. Ballistics of the two cartridges, given the precision of the sighting systems and the ranges they're calibrated for, are almost an even match for man sized targets.
Were not talking sniper scopes, here.

IIRC, Ted (EMDII) did the math a few years ago and it is fairly simple to judge what ranges the settings for the .223 cam are appropriate for when used with a .308. The old thread might be available for viewing, but it would take a bit of searching if it is.
Bottom line: When TAPCO was selling the .308 cams at a good price it might have been worth changing out. The utility of such a change now might not justify the cost/trouble. I would suggest using it as is, doing the math, and figuring the yardage difference for the "distance" setting imposed by using a .223 cam with .308 ammo.

Much obliged for the info, fellas, good to know I might be ok with what I got. Arby, I found the thread you mentioned. Easy way to compare practical ballistics between the two calibers. Again, thanks a ho bunch.
