Just had my first FAL finished by a very competent professional. Shot 150 rounds this weekend... problem is this...

The test target I received grouped well but an inch left, and the sight was almost all the way right. I had to adjust the sight ALL the way to the right to get it to shoot properly. What is the deal? The receiver is DSA, new Para barrel from the Dealer Warehouse.

Is it the barrel, receiver, or what? It was recommended that the front sight be rotated off TDC to compensate. I do not like this idea. What do you all recommend?

Sounds like your barrel is not tight enough.......therefore your front sight is actually to the right of top dead center.

This little ditty is what I use to figure out correct barrel timing.

If it shoots to the left,
The barrel need more heft.
If it shoots to the right,
The barrel is too tight.

Tha amount of barrel movement needed is usually only about the thickness of a hair. Some of the more passionate builders here once figured out how many thousandths of an inch you needed to turn the barrel to move the point of impact 1 inch at 100 yds. I just figured it would be about 1 RCH where r=red and h=hair. You figure out what the c=.

I have one too,

If it shoots too low,
The barrel has a bow.
If it shoots too high,
Your shooting that damn century Indian crap. Stop it and get some real ammo.

Pretty easy fix. With the right tools.
Might want to talk to the guy who built it. Barrel timing is off by a degree or so. He should make it right.
