Thanks. I got him in the Oconee National Forest. I ambushed him 3 PM . The hunting pressure is great. Everybody and his brother is out wanking away on their call, the birds know exactly where they are. I snuck in, set up my decoys and waited. After an hour or so three gobblers came out in the opening, nary a peep did I make. An ATV came down the road and spooked them and I took this one at 35 yards on the wing at 20-30 ft. high. 10 Ga. NEF single shot with fiber optic sights and extra full choke.

Really nice bird! On the wing even. They're just getting huntable here in this particular area of Texas. Many of the birds came from a public area in Iowa from where I'm from. Texas traded river otters for the turkeys. Saw quite a few several weeks ago. I'll probably hunt them here next year. In west Texas where I usually hunt it is a given to get a bird. Bunches of birds and few hunters.

Way to go. Not the easiest bird to get. Sounds like dangerous woods to hunt in too.
