Crappie fishing ended up fishing for cats

Cloudy, East winds 18-20 mph, gusting to 25, air temp 68 degrees, water temp 65 degrees, some light showers.

Go to work this morning to find out that my boss is sick and didn't pick up any of the supplies last night nor did any of the equipment come in so I could finish an ongoing project. Showers also cancelled my outdoor projects for the day, so what else was there to do? Yup, time to crappie fish!

Started out with a focus only on crappie but after an hour, the bite had stopped and the catfish were feeding. All were caught on minnows in less than 3 feet of water.

No trophy winners but the evening meal has already been planned.
Funny how fish always look big until you take pics of them, huh?

Least you had a camera. I hear the fish stories but none of them around here takes any pics. Fish stories..ya know

They were caught at a little honey-hole on Lake Coffee Mill in Fannin County, Texas.

And yes, they were caught in the lip as well.:wink:

I actually forgot to bring the camera but snapped the pics before I cleaned them.
The grease is heating up as we speak.

Perfect eating size cats! They should be great eating. Channels that size are my favorites. I just got permission on several small lakes on a ranch near here,they've never been fished! If its great going I'll extend you an invite.

Just got back from another fishing outing. Four cats and four crappie but the crappie were a hair bigger this time.

Yes it is. I'm waiting on an impeller kit for my motor. Its time for a new one, cheap insurance. Also my rod holders aren't here yet. Learned spider rigging this past year, it is the tournament winning trick. I've done alot to my boat this year. Oh I bought this boat in Bonham. Can't remember the guys last name, Charley someone. Its probably been all over Coffe Mill.
