Sig Sauer Customer Service has impressed me.

I bought a used P226 at a gun show about four months ago. It showed alot of holster wear so I decided to refinish it two-tone olive drab slide over grey frame and brushed stainless for the barrell. I used Norrell's that I've had and wanted to try the grey and stainless.

I applied all the colors to the frame, slide, barrell and the small exposed parts. I overlooked a small part during the disassembly. When I baked the finish on, the hammer stop, which looked like metal before, had melted and deformed. I probably overheated it, too, as the green finish is darker than the FAL carbine I did last year.

I called SigArms and truthfully explaned what I did and asked to order another hammer stop. The rep took my address but did not ask for billing information and when I asked, he said it would be complimentory ( even though I told him it was my fault and I bought it used ).

I know it's a small and inexpensive part. It's the thought that counts and I really appreciated that.

The pistol went together fine and shoots very well. I had reservations about refinishing the barrell and it might cause a jam from locking up too tight, but it is fine. Just a little darker than I wanted. My fault.
