Way to go Tiredoldlion!!

Now you have to add all the details........what caliber gun, range and etc.

What part did the dog play? Doesn't look big enough to corner and hold, but who knows?? You do, of course........now enlighten us!!

I was sadly disappointed with the number of hogs on our lease here in SE Texas, one of the "neighbors" either trapped or hunted them all down, as the population is really low. We only saw 2 during deer season and trapped one right after the season......and it was a "cut" boar of about 80 pounds. Maybe they will recover and we'll see more as the year goes by. Funny, that some members of the lease want them eradicated completely, then complain when they don't see them anymore. For myself, I had rather eat hog then deer and they are just as much fun to hunt.

Okay enough of my BS, get the details out Tiredoldlion!!

Hunting swine is bout my favourite kinda hunting.....my mates all laugh about the sweats and handshakes I get thinking about it.....when I am hunting deer I inevitably see hogs......it is alomst a superhuman effort (and sometimes I fail to control the urges) for me not to ground the hogs and play catch up with the deer later on.

Good looking hogs and country there mate...!!!

The Mountain Cur gets the credit we are just shooters, she is the hunter, I use a Scoped Ruger mini-30 with Wolf FMJ's, Jerry uses a 12ga with 00 buckshot, he killed 3, I got 1(all head shots). Today, we hunted river bottoms with about a 30-40 wind and 20 degress temp, it was tough staying out there but if you want to do it you just have to deal with the wet feet and cold. The Hogs like to stay in very thick brush in the daytime so 20-25 yrds was about as far as we could see.

I guess a Mountain Cur must be a hog dog?

Hogs breed fast like rabbits. The population will bounce back in no time if they are anything like Florida hogs. From what I remember a hog can be bred before it's a year old so it's really hard to hunt out a population of them. That's part of the reason they are such a nuisance in many areas. But that's good for us pig hunters since on private land they are considered the same as domestic livestock and aren't game animals. That means no season or weapon restrictions except as determined by the land owner. I feel the same as you Sig220, they are more fun to hunt than deer.

Looks like you guys had a great day tiredoldlion! I need to get back out in the woods. It's been too long.
