View Full Version : L1A1 5 Port Flash Hider Markings ?
January 18, 2005, 22:47
Hopeing one of you experts can shed some light on a few markings I found on the left side of one of my L1A1 flash hiders.
Holding it horizontally with the bayonet lug down, the next port down from the top one has some markings next to it:
Then beside the next port down:
B60 and the "Broad Arrow" marking.
I'm guessing lot numbers and whatnot. How about you guys?

Wow! I saw that phone number in a stall at a bar last week! :biggrin: Just kidding!
It's a Brit. B60- Made in 1960 By BSA. The other numbers are the stock/part#. Broad arrow markings are found all over brit parts... And Indian sometimes too!
I'm sure kevin- aka: NZL1A1collector may shed more light on this and/or corect any mistakes I made here. :biggrin: :fal:

GPG has it pretty well described
B = BSA Guns
60 = 1960 (year the part was made)
960-2270 = part of the NSN part number 1005-99-960-2270
/|\ = broadarrows are the acceptance stamp

Were they made any other year besides 60? Seems as though every one that I have seen has been a B60.

I think I've seen some 59's and some 61's. Not real sure. No time to go through them at the moment. If they were made I'm sure I have them in all years made!
