I got this in an email that proclaimed it was taken by a news helo over Lake Conroe, Texas. There was two jpegs, but one will do. Fake? Trick? Doubt it. Problem is, the location on the lake is where I go juglining for Blue Cats in the spring!

You gauge a gator's length by the length from the eyes to the end of the snout.

Kind of hard from the angle of the pic, but I would guess 14 to 18 feet long.:(

Looks like its time to have a gator season on Lake Conroe:]

That picture has been around for a while....I think someone said that was in Florida.

Hey Doug! I suspected that it may be an "old" pic. But looked valid. See the rotor wash waves on the water. Made me think it might not be a fotoshop'ed rig. Now that you mention it, the vegetation (live and dead) in the water does not look like any I have seen on Lake Conroe. Oh well, pretty big lizard anyway!

That is trully a huge alligator. I would estimate it at 11 feet. For those not familiar with them 11 feet is huge. The biggest I've seen first hand was 13 and it was a monster. American alligators don't get as large as crocs from Australia or Africa.

Fish & Game dept estimated it between 12-14 foot.
