Well, I just received my two kits from Mark (FWRA) and Robert (Ammostore). I just knew that these guys would come through for us, and they have.

My two kits are well used but they are not as abused as many of the G1 rifle kits that I have assembled. They also have some great character with the field applied camo. The bores are very good, clean, shiny, strong rifling and very little minor pitting. These will make fine shooting rifles.

The furniture that I received (Pot Luck) are plastic and they have no cracks or any major damage. There are some usual dings and dents that can be easily repaired, but nothing is severe enough to be a show stopping issue. All the small parts are there (except one kit had the front sight missing, I e-mailed Mark and I have no fear, we are dealing with good people here) and everything look to be in great shape.

These will assemble into very nice rifles and you cannot beat this deal anywhere. In fact, I'm so happy and impressed that I'm going to order a couple more before they dry up. And I wont even feel guilty about not telling the wife about it!

Since a picture is worth a thousand and one words, I'm attaching a few!

Oh, I forgot to add, that the mags that came with the kits are in new condition, nice, un-dented and no finish wear.

Some of my pics did not post correctly, re-posting...

I also agree with what metalknight said about the SA kits...my kits are in the same condition as his. My girlfriend didn't think it was a very good deal, but I told her that those kits will make a nice looking rifle.

My mags weren't brand new, but they look to be servicable. Barrels are what I expected, not perfect, a little pitting, but they can be turned into shooters. All of my small parts appear to be there. These kits have been used and have alot of dings in them and the finish is worn. I understood this before I bought them and I'm quite happy with both of my kits.

Just got my two kits. One is very good and one is fair-good . Both barrels are good to
very nice. The nice one is a replacement and still has the finish on the fore end.

One bolt is well used but good and the other has very little use at all! The only issue that may or may not affect on is the selector on one of the lowers is pretty loose. Having never encountered this we shal see.

All the little stuff is fine. Yes they have had a hard life but you better get on the bus or pay more $$ later

At the price those that have been on the fence need to get off and send mark some $$$

I posted this on his (mark's) thread but will post again here. I have seen the poll results and by the results people have a bunch of kits put away and do not like the looks of these. Im happy for you. I too have other kits.

At this time and at this price these are a good buy.

Thanks Mark for another good one.

jerrymrc,
That new looking barrel on the left is sweeet! Is it an FN replacement? You have a couple good kits there that should clean up and refinish nicely!

Looks to be SA. Has all the union and other proof marks but no "P" in a box.

One of my kits was average to good, what I expected. The Other is in GREAT shape, it has a FN replacement barrel, no wear on the bolt or carrier, and very little wear on the lower. It also has the Long buttstock. I am VERY Pleased!! The only problem I had was that the lips and base plate on one of the mags is bent up, I may be able to fix it though.

I just noticed the poll results. 10 thought these were scrap metal? Get serious gang... these are well used kits but a great buy at this pricing. Eighty five kits were purchased from this GB and they were well described in the ad.

But hey! Send me the scrap iron kits and I'll give 'em to Ricketts to Parkerize and I'll make great rifles out of them...so don't pitch 'em in the trash.

Be sure and ad a note here when you get yours and tell us what you think. I'm sure folks voted who had no dog in this fight based on the positive e-mails I've received. Yep...the days of bargain priced Imbel kits from Dan are history now and the pickin's are slim. These may have been well used parts kits but a bargain by todays standards.

Just remember....when the new HB kits arrive...unissued....the price will be steep but at least they will be rare kits and will still be a bargain. Until that time...this is about all that's available. No matter where you buy SA kits...they are Ammunitionstore kits in varying stages of condition. Rode hard and put up wet...but serviceable kits all.

Thanks to Robert Custer for working with me to get this done. The Ammunitionstore employees have done a marvelous job of getting these out in a timely manner. And remember Gang...some of the employees working hard to get these shipped never saw a parts kit before so cut them some slack. If something is missing....or something is broken...just E-mail me immediately and it will be handled.

I shut down my PM option as it was getting out of hand and shame on me...but I think it's a PITA to jump back and forth there. E-mail is best and either click on the e-mail icon above my posts (best to get through my firewall) or e-mail me direct at the e-mail in my sig line here. (mpowell5@neo.rr.com)

I'll work out additional GB's on these kits in varying stages as soon as Robert and I put our heads together. Until then...you can order direct form Ammunitionstore at the listed pricing and do so with confidence. Great folks who will take care of any problems that might crop up. E-mail Robert direct or call him if you need help with his kits purchased direct from the website. We'll also work out some other stuff other than kits to offer you down the road.

Very satisfied with my kits. 1 had an excellant lower, can use as is. Another had a new looking barrel that won't need refinishing either. Other parts were in good to very good shape.

Kudos Mark, for overseeing the kits and the group buy. Appears that is was a success...with Mark backing the product, I doubt it would have been anthing otherwise.

From what I could tell, I was the the initial person who voted "No, ... scrap", a few days back.

It wasn't meant as a gag, or a blow.

I don't presume to know a lot about the condition of the "typical kit". My only experience is the ONE grade-3 kit I ordered from "Dans" a year and a half ago.

Dan's, at that time didn't have any grade-1 or grade-2 kits left. Only grade-3 was available.

I had always assumed that my kit was the bottom of the barrel.

The kits/hardware pictured in the images within this thread appear to me to be significantly more rough than the Dan's grade 3 kit I received.

Of the voting options available, 1, 2, and 4 were not accurate. The 3rd (though worded extreme), was the only voting option which reflected my impression that the kits shown were not as clean as what I had seen in the past..

1. Yes! I hope mine are like that.
2. Yes! But mine were not in that good of shape.
3. No! They look like beat to hell scrap metal!
4. They look like your everyday used milsurp. So what?

Functionally speaking, the kits may be of no less quality than any others offered.

I could only comment on what I could view at 72dpi.

I just got my three kits. They are all very serviceable as is. Could they use cleaning and a refinish of metal and stocks? Yes...if that is what you want. No worse....maybe even better....than some G1 kits I bought here a year ago. I will likey build one as is for a "real" R1 look. I am VERY pleased with these kits.....especially at $130 a kit plus shipping.
