Looking for some 30 round FAL mag pouches. Anyone have any leads? Can only find 20 rounders at all the usual supplers.

I found some at a surplus store in cape cod mass. Couldn't resist @ $4 a pop. They hold 4 30rders, yes 4! That gets a little heavy though
Marked:

High Speed Gear makes mag pouches that will fit 30 round FAL mags. Absolutely top notch gear.

The only place that I know that has the solo mag pouches for sale is SKD

Couple of options I know of. Larry here (L/FN) had some Canadian 30 round mag bras. I bought one but have not tried it out yet. I also have a "South African Army Style Ammo Pouch" (thats what the tag says). It is made of a medium/light weight cotton canvas black material with old M-14 style flap closure and two sewn on belt loops on back. Fits two 30 round FAL mags well. Not heavy duty but was cheap. I think I got it from Sportsman's Guide or maybe Cheaper Then Dirt. Think it was around $10. Tag says Fox Outdoor Products, Item No. 40-73, Size 6 1/2" X 3 1/2" X 2 1/4". A nice feature is it does have a pull up tab inside which acts as a anti rattle divider between the mags.

The store is orleans army and navy located in orleans. Real easy to find- just get off at the rotary off of route 6 and go past the stop and shop, bear right at the fork(about .3 past the supermarket) and it's on the left (maybe another .2 miles). Found the pouches on the second floor (in the bins to the immediate 3 o'clock to the top of the stairs). If you want I could send you a few pics so you know exactly what they're like.

I believe this is also the leg pouch with a built in knife sheath. Texas Tactical had these listed in the marketplace sometime last year. Been looking long and hard at these, but already have a similar pouch for M16/M4 mags. Kind of hard to have redundant gear at $85, but I am still looking hard at it.

I tried most of the pouches 'out there' that I could get my hands on and decided to design my own. They are built so that the closed pouch encases the mags completely.

I can build them in woodland, three color desert, desert tiger,OD or coyote(the coyote protoypes pictured are built with OD trim for my rig but typically built with Tan trim. The snap closure is NOT standard, velcro is but my needs required snaps as the 'backup' closure).
These are set up for MOLLE but can be built with out the 'external' PALS web.
FYI~ I don't know if it's kosher,if so delete this but I get $30.00 for the MOLLE version w/velcro+fastex closures.

I build custom gear and use Mil-spec materials,I usually have a 'pile' of three color desert gear on hand but can build any color combo in a 2-3 week turnaround.

I don't have a website but have posted photos of some of my work at www.xanga.com/akabulletcatchR

I had bulletcatchR modify a chicom type 63 chest harness for me. Good recommendations, good work, good price, good turn around time. Can't beat that with a stick....

HSG also make a modular version of these pouches w/o the leg-attachment. Connects to any MOLLE-compatible vest/platform. I have some in OD and a limited number in Coyote Brown and a couple in Khaki. They go for $45 ea. They do not have the pistol mag pouches on the sides, but have PALS webbing instead to either leave blank or attach whatever pouch you might want.

A couple of surplus options: Numrich/Gunparts has Canadian C2 pouches. Item# 725930A, holds 2 mags, about $15 each. East German AK74 4-cell mag pouches fit 30's well. Available cheap at Sportsman's Guide and other surplus outlets. That's some serious firepower if you don't mind the weight.....

I attached three of the 2X30 rd pouches to a chicom style chest rig with MOLLE webbing and it was HEAVY.I built some single thirty's and I really like it.It's almosty like wearing a 3X30 rd chicom chest rig with AK mags, very slim and just alttle heavier.I can wear a load bearing suspenders with the rest of the second line gear and even the SA style LBE(open at the front) over it real nicely.
Three of the single 30 pouches just fit on a plate carrier without stickout out too far.

I got two of the 30 rounders and three of the 20 rounders, as I had ordered. Condition was almost new to new/unissued. Just make sure you get what you want and not the other style.

Think hard about you LBE because that is a lot of weight to be carrying around.

I just ordered 5 G3 mag pouches from cheaperthandirt.com. They are plastic and look cheesy in the catalog, but at 99cents each, I don't think I have much to risk. They are catalog # ZWN-245. They also have leather ones for $5 a pop.
I will post an update when they arrive.

Brigade Quartermasters
#AMG302 - 12.99 ea.

I ordered a couple of these, thinking they would be okay for 20rd FAL mags, but they're too deep. They fit 30rd AK mags pretty well, and I think they would be okay for 30rd FAL mags.

considering they are for AK 30 rnd mags, it would seem that they would indeed fit OK.

The double side-by-side 20 round mag pouches got here today. They are green, rubbery and every bit worth the buck a piece I paid. They are stamped 1988 and 1986 inside and were marked for G3 mags. Looks like something Gaston Glock would have made. The leather pouch is very nice and even has the proper angle cut in the bottom to fit the FAL mags. they also have a leather strap that is attached at the inside bottom of the pouch and streches to a slit in the front of the pouch. When the strap is pulled, the magazine inside is lifted slightly and can be removed from the pouch. pretty cool
