View Full Version : ECWCS Re-Treatment
Col. Kurtz

I am looking to treat some of my older Gortex ECWCS gear to waterproof the outer shell. I dont know if I should go with the wash in or spray on treatments. I found two products ReviveX and Nikwax TX-Direct that claim to do the job.
Anyone use the products or know of a W.L. Gore endorsed product to rejuvenate my tired gear.

Nikwax works quite well. I have used it on several things. You may want to try through the gear in the dryer for about 15 minutes first though. That usually works the first couple times.

I've used the Revivex and was pleased with the results. Says right on the bottle " From the inventors of Gore-Tex fabrics" so I guess you could say it's endorsed by W.L. Gore.

ReviveX.
Are you the Col. Kurtz from the old Bowers Board? STGang? I was there, once upon a time under a different handle.

Bought a few bottles of different Nikwax product to wash a slightly used ECWS sleeping system which I bought off the boards. Haven't had the time to use it yet, but came with a strong recommendation of a buddy of mine. Bought the stuff at REI (http://www.rei.com/online/store/Search?vcat=REI_SEARCH&query=&min=0&pix=1&pix=0&brand=Nikwax&max=0&storeId=8000&x=38&y=10)
