Anyone know anything about the durability/ utility/ firsthand effectiveness of the Russian Bekas sets over at www.redsoldier.com?
Thats the first place Ive seen the authentic uniforms sold, Im a little curious. Id hate to shell out $70 for a set just to see how they stack up to the US BDU.

70+ views and no one knows anything?
The fate of part of a paycheck lies at stake!
I guess if no one ponies up Ill just have to BUY a set in 2 weeks and post the results.

I cant believe this has sat umolested for 2 whole days in the "Gearqueen" section.... wow. Starting to feel a little like the AKFiles in here,

Are you talking about their tiger stripe-like pattern BDU?

I haven't had any experience with that particular pattern, but I had a set of Russian BDU's in 'Flora' pattern. The fabric was tough, but a bit thin. The stitching was heavy but crude. After a few washings the fabric softened up a bit, but it was still a bit scratchy. All this is par for the course when talking about most Russian military gear. The hat shrank a bunch after the first washing, so ordering a size or two bigger than you normally wear is a good idea.

I want a set of their urban or 'city' camo winter sets.

Thanks, thats exactly what I was looking for. Not so much the Tiger Stripe and I know, thats what it means, but the uniform of the same name. They offer the M2 I think, set, and the Bekas which looked to be the better of the two. Now that Ive read this, I might just buy a set of the pants and check them out before going the whole nine yards, thanks John.

The Bekas uniforms are neat. I got a set in blue tiger stripe. Be careful about the type of fabric you select. The more synthetic you get, the louder the fabric will be. On the flip side, it will be more water resistant. I got a uniform made out of the Gretta fabric. In retrospective, I wish I'd gotten Metalitsa. The fabric has held up well, but the stitching leaves something to be desired. I'd have the set taken to a tailor and a second set of stitching put into place fore extra security.
