Ok, after september I want to turn my DSA stg carbine into a g-series look alike. To me that is the ultimate in appearances and function for me. I know I can't have the FA parts that make the G-series to special, but thats alright with me. You can't (legally) use them in those rifles anyway.
The one I'm talking about replicating has wooden butt, plastic grip, and steel HG's w/e bipod and browning style FH.
Now, I need some details.
would the steyr 21" barrel DSA sells be pretty close to original for a G series? Is their US made replica browning FH the same as the one that came on FN g-series rifles?
The HG's, bipod, lower, and PG I have will stay.
I assume that the G-series is mostly just a G1 in semi. Anywhere to get a great condition G1 stock or original FN wooden stock? If all else fails, what kind of wood did FN use on their stocks?
I see that the gas plus is the non - GL type. that shouldn't be hard to do
What type of painted on finish would look closest to original? I think I'm going to leave the carrier the dark park it is already. I will just paint over the parkerized finish thats on the rest now.
Any kind of bayonet lug? I think most bayos attached to the FH, right?
If you have leads to anything I would need here, please give me a link or source. Although I don't know that much about the g-series, i love the looks and I need the longer barrel (mine now is 16' + brake i think)
Also, who can rebarrel a FAL without destorying the receiver? any special arrangements to be made (FFL, etc?).
thanks for anything you can volunteer
